Calm within the Chaos

This past weekend I moved. As I’ve explained to almost anyone who will listen, that week / weekend were hell. Many of you know that I am a planner; I thrive off of making lists and organizing and being able to say that I’ve accomplished my tasks. I had the whole week planned, with lists and notification reminders in my phone to keep me on track. But if you’ve ever planned a move, or just tried to get things done in a timely manner, you know it can all go to shit pretty darn quick. And that was me! All week long... but I feel as though I’m a pretty positive person. So heres how I managed to keep calm within the chaos!
Meditation and yoga are two consistencies I can’t live without when times get stressful. Over the years, I’ve learned what works and what doesn’t work for me in these two areas. For example, dark, quiet rooms with some soothing sounds in the background are pretty much the only way I can feel at ease and start my practice. Whether it be a short morning routine before work or a quiet form of relaxation after the day is through, I’ve learned what works and what focuses my energy!
There are many forms of yoga and mediation that you can find. If I can find the time to go to a yoga studio then I prefer that over a home practice because of the direction it goes in. With a class, I don’t have to think about the next movement or worry if my balance is off because I have someone there to guide me. These classes are offered all over your city and are offered in a range of prices.

When I don’t have time to make it to a class, I search through YouTube to find a practice that suits me for that time. I whip out my yoga mat, turn on some dim lights, and begin. This always brings comfort to me: knowing I’m helping not only my body get strong and right but also my headspace. These practices put into perspective the chaos in my life and helps me evaluate what I’m going through. I think I meditated at least once a day this past week to help me remember what was important: I had a space that I was moving to and that all the other hiccups would fall into place when they did.
My rituals within the chaos help me stay focused on my goals. They bring me peace and clarity for the journey ahead. If you’ve been curious about yoga or have started it, keep it up. It might seem discouraging that you’re not at someone elses level (like I do at times) but our yogi always says, ”this is your practice and your pace, just be thankful your taking time to come to the mat.” #calm #health
